Investigation request
Each submission must be accompanied by a completed application for examination:
Condition of the samples
A complete examination for causes of disease is only possible on diseased but still living fish.
- Many pathogens leave the infected fish shortly after its death.
- Fish carcasses spoil within a few hours, especially if they are left in the water.
- With advanced decomposition, germ dispersal into all organs is to be expected.
With dead animals, the examination possibilities are therefore limited.
Number of fish per sample
- Stock survey: 5 - 6 fish
- Hatchlings and juveniles: 15 - 20 animals
- Ornamental fish: sick animal
