The Fish Diagnostic Centre examines fish, shrimps and crayfish from fish farms, aquariums, ponds and the field from all over Switzerland and abroad and offers consulting services. The focus is on health of entire populations and stocks.

The Diagnostic Unit of the FIWI acts as the national reference laboratory for notifiable aquatic animal diseases. High-quality diagnostics are ensured by ongoing training and further education measures, the adaptation and development of methods in accordance with new scientific findings and regular participation in international proficiency tests.
