Epigenetics & Evolution

Can we quantify epigenetic variability?

We combine intergenerational stress exposure experiments with RNAseq and ATACseq to investigate directionality versus stochasticity of effects on the parental contribution. Many triggers cause intergenerational effects, but these are often non-overlapping for distinct stimuly. We wonder whether directional adaptation through intergenerational effects is the exception, and epigenetic bet-hedging is the norm, particularly in multiparous species.
